The Piñero Group has spent more than 40 years dedicated to creating valuable experiences for guests at its Bahía Príncipe hotels spread around several countries, especially highlighted by a significant presence in the Caribbean.

Staff at their hotels don't just say good morning to you: they greet you with a “Happy Day” and a big smile.

The Bahía Príncipe Golf division was created a few years ago, showcasing courses located in residential developments in areas that are shared with the group’s hotel complexes.

The group currently has courses in two privileged destinations: PGA Ocean's 4 in the Dominican Republic and PGA Riviera Maya in Mexico’s Riviera Maya. The Bahía Príncipe Golf division is led by Vanessa Vignali, a former professional golfer on the Ladies European Tour, where she later was responsible for public relations. Vanessa has extensive experience in golf management, as sports director of the Balearic Federation, and in management and marketing positions at various golf courses, in both Spain and England.

PGA Ocean's 4 (its name comes from four cliff-side holes dotted along the Caribbean coastline) is located within the exclusive Playa Nueva Romana residential complex. The superb setting is halfway between the capital Santo Domingo and the Punta Cana tourist area, about 100 kilometres from each location. This course has a perfect companion in its “little brother”, an excellent par-3 nine-hole layout that is ideal for perfecting your short game or for a quick round that takes less than two hours.

The residential area provides guaranteed security in a gated community where owners can enjoy top services and exclusive advantages for playing at the courses. In the immediate surroundings there are other golf options that complement the residential complex.

PGA Riviera Maya is located south of Cancun and Playa del Carmen and close to the most chic destination in the area: Tulum.

Like its counterpart in the Dominican Republic, this course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, is complemented by a superb par-3 course of exceptional quality. Also like the Dominican Republic complex, it has comprehensive and high-quality facilities at its academy.

The group's vision was to offer visiting players and residents a top golf experience. The challenge was not straightforward, as the Bahía Príncipe courses are located in golf destinations of great quality in terms of design, maintenance and services. Nevertheless, the company was determined to overcome these difficulties and fulfil the high demands that the group imposes on itself regarding environmental and economic sustainability, while focusing on developing an ambitious corporate social responsibility program.

Seeking the highest quality standards, Grupo Piñero, through its Bahía Príncipe Golf division, has forged interesting alliances with two of the most important organisations in the world of golf, the PGA of America and, more recently, the management company Troon.

With these strategic alliances, Bahía Príncipe Golf remains firmly committed to the highly demanding North American market (United States and Canada). At the same time, other key markets such as South America, Central America and Europe will also benefit from the quality of the group’s courses, hotels and services provided to

THE COURSES... IN THE WORDS OF THEIR RESPECTIVE DIRECTORS

Fernando Padrón – director at PGA Riviera Maya

PGA Riviera Maya is an impressive example of landscape architecture where the renowned Robert Trent Jones Jr has managed to create a spectacular synergy by integrating the golf course within the Mayan jungle, natural lakes and cenotes. This golf resort, which also includes a nine-hole par-3 layout, has recently been recognised by Golf Digest magazine as one of the best in Mexico and America, and it is an official partner of the PGA of America.

The club is integrated into the Bahía Príncipe complex in Mexico and is located in Riviera Maya, 25 kilometres from the town of Tulum, the area’s most fashionable tourist destination. The relationship with the PGA of America is the association’s first partnership in Latin America to support golfer development and tourism experiences.

In recognition of this commitment to quality and service, PGA Riviera Maya has hosted the final of the PGA Tour Latinoamérica for the past two years, obtaining positive good comments from sponsors, players and the PGA Tour. Also, in 2022 it will host the National Interclub Championship of Mexico, the leading amateur event in the country.

Carlos de Linares – director of PGA Ocean’s 4

The PGA Ocean's 4 course has positioned itself, in record time, as one of the essential experiences for golfers visiting our island. With a course length of 7,334 yards from the back markers and a good balance between its different teeing positions, the course adapts perfectly to the level of each player, making it both challenging and fun.

Recently associated with the PGA Of America and one of the courses managed by the world-renowned Troon company, the course is in a constant process of improvement to obtain the highest standards for players’ golfing experiences.

At the same time, the course’s evolution is linked to the PGA of America’s main objective, which is the growth of golf as a sport, offering high-performance teaching and training facilities directed by our PGA-certified professionals.

The distinguishing value of PGA Ocean's 4 is its high level of service and attention to players, which greatly impresses those who visit us for the first time, together with a magnificently diverse course design (parkland, links, desert and Caribbean), and both risky and conservative shot options that force you to use every club in the bag.

The delights of playing holes by the sea while watching the waves crash against the reef, the beauty of the native flora and fauna that accompanies you throughout your round and the quality of the facilities and services make PGA Ocean's 4 a destination that you cannot miss if you visit the Dominican Republic.

Troon, a company of North American origins, is recognised as the largest in the world in the management, development and marketing of golf clubs, offering its services to more than 700 golf courses, 85 of which are among the top 100 in the United States. Troon golf courses have hosted PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, Champions Tour and European Tour championships.

Proposals for improvements and commercial and business plans, the supervision of operations and a focus on satisfying the most demanding players within the most competitive market, which represents more than 50 million North American golfers, make this alliance hugely promising for Bahía Príncipe Golf. In the short term, the division aims to bolster the global status of its two excellent resorts in the Mexican and Dominican Caribbean.
