Jon Rahm is set to embark on a vital two weeks that could further embellish his already sensational rookie season – and prove to be exceptionally lucrative.

Rahm and other US PGA Tour players are closing in on the grand finale of the FedExCup, with a bonus of $10 million up for grabs for the winner. The first stop is this week’s BMW Championship in Illinois, third leg of the four-tournament end-of-season cup series.

The young Basque star is currently fifth on the FedExCup points list, and if he remains in that position or improves on it at the end of the BMW event he will be excellently placed to win the $10 million bonus.

The top-30 players qualify for the final leg of the playoff series, the Tour Championship in Atlanta, and numerically any of the top-five would win the cup (and bonus) if they win that tournament, irrespective of other players’ results.

Meanwhile, the top-70 still have their hopes alive in the BMW Championship which, like the other three final series events, offers a total of $8.7 million in prizemoney ($1.5 million for the champion).

The other four players currently in the top-five are (in order): Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson and Hideki Matsuyama.
