Domingo Gavira, coordinator of Costa del Sol Golf Club, tells us about the project, which has been operating in a coordinated way for more than a year with the objective of differentiating golf options.

–What is the Costa del Sol Golf Club?

A group of tourism companies that specialise in golf wanted to join forces to showcase the western Costa del Sol’s potential. Playing golf is a compelling reason for travelling, but we want to offer tourists a unique experience, something different with added value. The Costa del Sol is famous for being the Costa del Golf; perhaps this is because there are more than 3,000 holes concentrated in the area. The member companies have an outstanding track record, quality and innovation and, without any doubt, we are experts at creating golfing experiences. Although the golf courses and high standard of accommodation are at the core of this initiative, our efforts to link up with other leisure activities involving relaxation, sun, the sea and more make us unique.

We stand out as the ultimate “Golf Destination” because we work together, bringing together all of the holes, all of the courses, the entire range of options, and we offer tourists from home and abroad an ideal product for beginners, advanced players and experts alike, and the opportunity to play golf with your family, your partner or with groups of friends.

What is the aim of the Golf Club?

We want golfers to focus on enjoying their golf while at the same time feeling that they are immersed in a destination that is full of possibilities that increase their satisfaction. With friends, partners and work colleagues but, in addition to this sport, always looking for the icing on the cake: wine-making, culture, sailing, relaxation and wellbeing. In short, a different experience. That’s why the Golf Club wants the Costa del Sol to become “Your Golf Course”.

–Who are involved in this initiative?

Currently, the Costa del Sol Golf Club is made up of 10 golf courses, four accommodation establishments that specialise in this market and others of the highest standard that meet the needs of any tourist interested in playing this sport on the western Costa del Sol. All of the companies are industryleaders due to the quality of their professionals, their unrivalled treatment of customers and the exacting standards of the service they provide.
