Located in the heart of the Costa del Sol, close to Mijas’s Golf Valley, Calanova Golf Club provides stunning views over the Mediterranean and a magnificent design that all golfers should experience.

In addition to the sea, which can be viewed from almost every part of the course, the club also offers – with a slight turn of the head – other impressive views of the nearby Mijas mountain range.

One of the main features of its design is that most of the tees are elevated, which enables players to have a perfect visualisation of where their tee shot lands following the ball’s spectacular flight. The fairways are extremely wide, varied and open, thus averting the risk of any penalty for good shots. The greens are also generously sized, with gentle slopes that are both enjoyable and challenging.

For quite some time now, the owners of this renowned Costa del Sol resort have been committed to an ongoing programme of improvements to the complex which, together with its excellent maintenance, makes Calanova one of the most attractive courses in the area.

They recently inaugurated a new clubhouse that extends over more than 4,000 square metres in a modern and attractively designed building that includes hugely comfortable and luxurious changing rooms, a spacious and well-stocked shop, and a superb 900 square metre restaurant with an expansive terrace overlooking the 1st, 9th, 10th and 18th holes, practice range and putting green.

Also completed over the past few months was the new practice area, which required more than 80,000 cubic metres of earth to be moved, and comprises two tee areas – one on grass and the other on mats. This is where Michael Campbell has set up one of his two golf academies on the Costa del Sol. In addition to a top team of professionals, the academy also offers the best and latest equipment for swing analysis: trackman, samlab, samputt, etc. Opened adjacent to the driving range is a new 900 square metre putting green seeded with Agrostis L-93.
