Designed by Scottish architect Tom Simpson, famous for his golfing layouts at Turnberry and Muirfield, the Costa’s oldest course was opened by the Spanish royal family in 1925. The course is part links with seawater lagoons, and part parkland with the fairways forming avenues between the trees, which are home to flocks of colourful parakeets. The Parador Málaga del Golf hosted the Turespaña Masters Open de Andalucía in 1992 and 1999, won by Vijay Singh and Miguel Ángel Jiménez, respectively. The course measures 6,204 metres and is suitable for players of all levels of ability, though some holes present a real challenge.

HOW TO GET THERE

Going on the highway from Marbella, go past Torremolinos and take the exit bearing the name of the golf course. If you are going on the coastal highway, turn off at the Churriana interchange.
