A major highlight of this Costa del Sol course, opened in 2006, situated in Casares municipality and designed by Cabell B. Robinson, is its expansiveness – extending over 72 hectares. A par-72, it is fun to play, of medium difficulty and appropriate for players of all levels. It’s a long course, 6,700 metres from the white markers; the fairways are very wide, especially at the landing area, while the greens are fast. The club has implemented a conservation programme which includes sensible use of water (recycled) and conservation of the native flora and fauna. The landscape has been created by prestigious designer Gerard Hagard, who was gardener for the British royal household. Other major attractions include a Jack Nicklaus Academy and magnificent practice facilities. Finca Cortesín hosted the Volvo World Match Play Championship in 2009, 2011 and 2012.
