Valle Romano Hosts Seventh Leg of Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Caribbean

The seventh leg of the Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination “La Romana Golf Club Bahía Príncipe" in the Dominican Republic Circuit was held on Saturday 25 August at Valle Romano (Estepona), a superb course designed by the renowned American architect Cabell B. Robinson, who worked for many years with the legendary Robert Trent Jones Sr.

As in previous legs of this circuit, organised by Andalucía Golf magazine, the participants included both Spanish and foreign golfers of various different nationalities- 100 players in total.

There were very positive comments about the state of the course, and it was a shame there was no wind to cool things down on what was an extremely hot day. Fortunately, the players could refresh themselves at the food and drink table that Ona Valle Romano Golf & Resort installed between holes one and 10, with sandwiches, fruit skewers and cold water.

The apartment complex that the Ona Hotels chain operates at Valle Romano also later served lunch  in the restaurant of the magnificent clubhouse, receiving especially warm compliments for the fideúa. In addition, Ona Valle Romano Golf & Resort contributed to the tournament raffle one weekend’s accommodation with golf in the aforementioned complex.

The tournament prizes included apparel and golf equipment from leading brands offered by the Puerto Banus boutique fairway+blue and Holiday Golf, while D.O. Somontano provided a selection of high-end wines.

Caribbean Trip… Including Golf at Exceptional Courses

The prize includes a one-week stay at the five-star Hotel Bahía Principe Bouganville, all-inclusive: flight and four rounds of golf – two at La Romana Golf Club, one at Punta Espada (Cap Cana) and another at Diente de Perro (Casa de Campo).

The top five finishes at Valle Romano in category one were (in order): María Aurora Morgado Melendo (43 points), Adrián García Luján (42), José Román Martín (42), Salvador González Martín (40) and Javier Mielgo Migue (38).
In category two, the leading five were: David Doña Naranjos (41 points), Vincent de Sadeleer (38), Lorenzo Bison (37), Arturo Manuel Cebrián García (36) and José Antonio Aparicio Puig (35).
As for the special prizes… closest to the pin was won by Salvador Benítez Rubio; and longest drive by Juan J. Rojas.

The scratch winner was Adrián García Luján, who in addition to the trophy was presented with a special prize of a magnificent painting by renowned Marbella-based artist Alejandro Hermann.

As is traditional, after the golf was concluded, those taking part were able to enjoy a prize-giving ceremony and cocktail-luncheon reception on the clubhouse restaurant terrace.
