The new season of top amateur competitions organised by Andalucía Golf on the Costa del Sol began with an individual stableford event on Sunday at Atalaya Old Course.

Windy conditions made play difficult but failed to deter the keen competitors as they produced some highly creditable scoring on the classic course – which this year’s celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Prizes valued at more than €1,500 were presented to the three leading players in each category, as well as the trophies; and there were special prizes for longest drive (men and women), ball closest to the pin and scratch – in addition to gifts for a raffle.
