He might be playing most of his golf in the senior ranks these days, but Miguel Ángel Jiménez can still hold his own against the young guns.

Competing in the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre on the European Tour, the 53-year-old Costa del Sol star carded an opening six-under 64 to share the lead with Tyrell Hatton (25 years old) and Scott Hend (44).

Jiménez won this event in 2010, and he will be looking to extend his record as the European Tour's oldest winner. He was victorious in the Open de España in 2014 at the age of 50 years and 133 days.

Also competing in the tournament as an invitee is Javier Ballesteros, whose father Seve won the European Masters title in 1977, 1978 and 1989. After an opening 78, however, it seems as though his stay in the Alps will be short-lived.
