Tiger Woods cerró 2010 como el golfista con más ganancias del mundo, pese a su particular annus horribilis en el que no ganó ningún torneo, cedió el número uno mundial a Lee Westwood y liquidó, tras reconocer numerosas infidelidades, su matrimonio con Elin Nordegren, a la que ha tenido que pagar 100 millones de dólares.
Wooods, que en diciembre cumplió 35 años, ganó el año pasado un total de 74.2 millones de dólares (55.6 millones de euros), 48 menos respecto a lo que se embolsó en 2009. De ese montante, tan solo 2.29 millones corresponden a dinero ganado en torneos y el resto responde a ingresos por patrocinadores.
Pese a su mal momento, el Tigre, que cerró el año sin un solo triunfo por primera vez desde 1996, sigue recibiendo 60 millones de dólares en concepto de patrocinio con las empresas Nike, lectronic Arts, Gillette, Berkshire Hathaway, Tag Heuer, Upper Deck y TLC Laser Vision Centers.
El siguiente en la lista de ganancias es Phil Mickelson, que ganó 40.18 millones de dólares, seguido de ilustres como Arnold Palmer (36 millones), Greg Norman (30) y Jack Nicklaus (25). Jim Furyk, que recibió un premio extra de diez millones por imponerse en la FedExCup, fue sexto con 23.58 millones.

Tiger Woods, as usual, tops the list of earners for the professional golfing world. Even though he missed time due to his rehab/sex scandal fiasco and lost out on a number of endorsements, Tiger still brought home a cool $74.2 million.
Incidentally, only about $2 million of that came from actually playing golf, something Tiger had a hard time doing in 2010, losing the number one ranking for the first time in years. That total is down from $121.9 million in earnings from 2009. Add that to the $100 million he had to pay his now ex-wife and it adds up to one expensive year for Tiger.
Number two on the list is Phil Mickelson. Although he earned a lot more on the links he is not quite the marketing magnet that Tiger once was; he totalled out at $40.2 million. The rest of the top-five don't play on the tour and haven't in years: Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus.
