Nestled in the picturesque mountain range overlooking the capital city, Royal Córdoba Golf Club made a resoundingly successful debut on the Andalucía Golf Challenge-Destination PGA Riviera Maya by Bahía Príncipe Circuit. A total of 80 players enjoyed this stunning golf course, which is highlighted by a natural setting unhindered by residential development. The scratch and category one and two winners all won a place in the October final of the Circuit, which is organised by Andalucía Golf/España Golf magazine and offers five exceptional trips to Riviera Maya.

The competition took place in excellent weather conditions, with a cool start in the early hours followed by perfect temperatures afterwards. The course was in superb condition thanks to the expert care of greenkeeper Elena Vera Arroyo, who on other occasions has had to overcome water restrictions imposed by drought decrees.

The participants enjoyed a tasty lunch in the clubhouse, which included tapas and rice dishes. We would also like to highlight the friendly and professional attention of the entire Royal Córdoba team, led by manager Francisco Javier Fernández Gómez.

As for the competition, the scratch winner was Luis Amo Triviño (with 31 points). Luis Cristóbal Valdelomar Escribano won category one (39 points), followed by Bartolomé Abad Jiménez (38) and Victorio Gómez López (37). Leading the way in category two was Carlos Velásquez Reyes (44 points), with Jesús Sánchez Onieva (41) and Eulogio Paz Tomás (40) second and third, respectively.

In addition to prizes for the first three top players in each category and the scratch winner, there were also two special prizes for nearest the pin, on the 3rd and 14th, won by Manuel Moreno and Roberto Ramiro.

The prize-giving ceremony was presided over by Royal Córdoba vice-president José Manuel Muñoz del Moral.
