Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri, the magnificent course nestled by the sea in the Cádiz municipality of Chiclana, debuted in a major way on the Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit. It was the first time this club had been part of the amateur circuit organised by Andalucía Golf/España Golf magazine, and the expectations generated resulted in a resoundingly successful  level of participation.

The day was magnificent, without the excessive heat that the area had registered during previous days; and the superb course, designed by the legendary Severiano Ballesteros, was presented in magnificent condition and maintenance. Between holes 9 and 10, next to the clubhouse, a well-stocked refreshment station was established with all kinds of sandwiches, canapés and drinks.

The director of Iberostar Royal Novo Sancti Petri, Rafael Hernández Alcalá, was the perfect tournament host, presiding over a great day of golf and an exceptional golfing ambience.

Organised by Andalucía Golf/España Golf magazine, the popular open amateur circuit is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and – the same as with the past two editions – offers an exceptional grand final prize of five trips to the Caribbean provided by Piñero Group.

Apart from prizes for each tournament (premium-brand apparel from the fairway+blue boutique in Puerto Banús, DO Somontano wines, sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the top three finishers in each category plus the scratch winner obtain places in the circuit’s grand finale, with the chance of securing one of the five Dominican Republic holidays including flights, transfers, all-inclusive luxury hotel accommodation, and golf at three of the best courses in the Caribbean: Ocean's 4, Teeth of The Dog and Punta Espada.

In category one, the top three finishers who gained a place in the Circuit’s grand final were Daniel Feliú Vera (38 points), Ernesto Ramos Galvin (38) and Jorge González Barba (37).

The leading three in category two were Juan Manuel Morales Alonso (39 points), Juan Francisco Laconti Holgado (39) and Álvaro Bort Tevar (38).

The scratch winner was Gonzalo Lilly Martínez, with 36 points.

As for the special prizes, closest to the pin went to José Manuel Peralta, and longest drive to Carmen Mendara and Íñigo Francia.

The next scheduled tournaments on the Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit are 16 August at Flamingos Villa Padierna, 22 August at La Reserva de Sotogrande, 25 August at Los Lagos de Mijas Golf and 29 August at  Finca Cortesín.
