Established in Spain since 1958, Taylor Wimpey España is a subsidiary of Taylor Wimpey PLC, a multinational real estate developer quoted on the stock exchange and with its headquarters in the United Kingdom. Highly respected in the real estate industry, Taylor Wimpey is developing two Costa del Sol projects associated with golf courses: Botanic, offering views over Los Arqueros; and Horizon Golf, in La Cala Golf Resort.
Ignacio Oslé, regional manager for Taylor Wimpey in Andalucía, notes that “our stamp of identity is that we develop high-end homes in well-established golf and beach settings, with quality standards greater than the norm, and above all else offering the experience of more than 55 years developing second residences that are well adapted to the requirements of European clients”.
Another advantage for Taylor Wimpey in comparison with other developers is the security it offers buyers. “We don’t start developing or selling a home until we have all the administrative authorisations so that our clients know right from the first moment when they will have the keys to their home. Furthermore, during the construction process, they receive detailed information about the work in progress, as well as any help or advice related to their new home that they might need. And finally, we accompany them during the title deeds process and we make sure the homes are handed over in the right condition and take care of any incidents during the guarantee period. In addition, we ensure that the streets and outside surroundings have been correctly urbanised. That is our social-corporate responsibility, appropriate for a company that is quoted on the FTSE 100 stock exchange in the United Kingdom, and is one of the major stock market-capitalised companies.
“We are,” continues Oslé, “a company with its own resources that doesn’t need outside financing for the construction work, and we guarantee all amounts paid during the purchase period, for the owner’s peace of mind. In conclusion, we offer reliability, seriousness and security. We cannot allow ourselves to have any unsatisfied client; our success is based on word-of-mouth recommendations from existing owners, lawyers, notaries and real estate agents on the Costa del Sol.

Taylor Wimpey’s clientele on the Costa del Sol (aka Costa del Golf) is very international, comprising 20 different nationalities. “The British,” says Oslé, “remain the most important, representing between 20 and 25 per cent, and we are also well known in the Scandinavian, Russian, Belgian, Dutch, Spanish and United Arab Emirates markets… in short, a great diversity of clients. Worth highlighting is a significant increase in demand among Spaniards this past year for homes in golf settings, due to the excellent relationship between quality and price at the beginning of this real estate cycle.”
This urbanisation comprises 90 apartments with spectacular views over the Los Arqueros golf course, close to La Quinta Golf and La Zagaleta, and also enjoying panoramic views over the sea and Gibraltar. All have three bedrooms “and extensive built area sizes that are not common on the Costa del Sol,” says Oslé. “I describe them as king size, 140 to 150 square metres ands 60-metre terraces, with top-class characteristics, floor-to-ceiling windows, high-end carpentry, Siemens-equipped kitchens, large-format marble… excellent features for clients who appreciate quality.
“One interesting aspect of this project is that we have protected the richness of the surrounding forest area and also created an interior botanical garden developed by Carlos Lima that includes trees from five continents in a woodland setting that is ideal for walks. In addition, the urbanisation has a large 25-metre pool for those who enjoy swimming.”
The first phase, comprising 30 homes, will be completed within a year. Prices range from €350,000.
The other project being developed by Taylor Wimpey is located in the heart of the renowned La Cala Golf Resort in Mijas Costa, with its three 18-hole courses and academy with six short holes. The urbanisation comprises 40 duplexes and 48 apartments surrounded by the courses, with spectacular views over the golf fairways and Mijas Costa.
The duplexes are three-storey, with the possibility of installing a lift, and are priced from €420,000. The apartments – all with large terraces, garage space and storage room – range from €280,000 for those with two bedrooms, €335,000 for three bedrooms and €415,000 for the penthouses.
A first phase of 20 duplexes will be completed in four months, and the first apartments at the start of next year.
