Santa Clara Granada and Chaparral Golf Club (on the Costa del Sol) are now part of the 2020 Andalucía Golf Challenge-Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit. Their inclusion means that this year’s Circuit, celebrating its 10th anniversary, is being played at a total of 18 superb courses – including several of Spain’s most renowned.

Organised by Andalucía Golf-España Golf magazine, the Circuit offers (as the main prizes) five week-long trips to the Dominican Republic including flights, transfers, all-inclusive five-star hotel accommodation and golf at three of the Caribbean’s finest courses: Ocean’s 4, Teeth of the Dog and Punta Espada.

Apart from prizes for each tournament (premium-brand apparel from the fairway+blue boutique in Puerto Banús, DO Somontano wines, sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the top three finishers in each category plus the scratch winner obtain places in the circuit’s grand finale (at Atalaya Old on 21 November) with the chance of securing one of the five Dominican Republic holidays.

The Santa Clara Granada tournament will be held on 10 October and the event at Chaparral on 31 October.

SANTA CLARA GOLF GRANADA

Opened in 2006, in the Otura area just 10 minutes from Granada’s historic centre and less than 30 kilometres from the Sierra Nevada ski resort, this 18-hole, par-73 course was designed by Enrique Canales. The 6,598-metre layout features large, sloping greens and various different hazards – which require a wide range of shots. The club has a golf academy and six-hole pitch and putt layout. Another main feature is the majestic Santa Clara Golf Granada clubhouse, with a complete spa (including indoor heated pool) and a restaurant with a stunning terrace looking out over the 18th green and offering superb views of Sierra Nevada.

.

CHAPARRAL

This course is highlighted by wonderful views over the Mediterranean and profuse and varied vegetation. The 18-hole, par-72 course was created with the idea of taking advantage of its undulating terrain and the abundant pine forests that dominate the area. With six par-3s, six par-4s and six par-5s, the course offers a wide range of options, both for experienced golfers and beginners. Chaparral also features a magnificent clubhouse, illuminated practice range and golf academy. This superb course, designed by Pepe Gancedo, re-opened for play at the start of 2006.
