Real Club de Golf Sotogrande resoundingly fulfilled the expectations of excellence that this exceptional course arouses, and attracted unanimous praise of players competing over to days in the latest leg of the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2019 Circuit Destination Riviera Maya Golf Club in Mexico. Designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, the magnificent course was in magnificent condition, with the prevailing sunny weather also contributing to an excellent competition.

In addition to the prizes presented for each tournament (top-brand clothes from fairway+blue boutique, DO Somontano wines, sports equipment, etc.), the top five finishers in each category won places in the grand final of the circuit with a chance to opt for one of five trips to Riviera Maya that includes flights, hotel accommodation (in Riviera Maya Bahia Principe Resort) and golf at three extraordinary courses in the Mexican Caribbean: Riviera Maya Golf Club, El Camaleón Mayakoba (a US PGA Tour tournament venue) and Playa Paraiso.

The top finishers at RCG Sotogrande in category one, obtaining a place for the grand final, were (in order): Jonas Lindman (41 points), José Antonio Rigaud Moreno (37), Francisco Javier García Marín (36), Carlos Mena Quero (36) and Rune Mikael Andersson (35).

In category two, the five making it to the grand final were: Francisco José Nateras Pérez (43), Álvaro Clemares Sempere (40), Isabell Gustin (40), Miguel Cantón Carretero (38) and Alberto Luis Alfonso Álvarez (38).

The scratch winner was Jonas Lidman, the special prize for nearest to the pin (17th) went to Francisco Javier García Marína, and the prizes for longest drives on the 18th were won by María Soledad Bellod and Carlos Mena.

The day of golf concluded at the clubhouse with a superb cocktail reception, prize-giving ceremony and gifts raffle.

The next event of the Andalucía Golf Challenge Destination Riviera Maya Golf Club will be on 16 July at Real Club Valderrama (no more places available) and the following event will be at San Roque Club’s Old Course on 27 July. TOURNAMENT ENTRIES

DESTINATION "RIVIERA MAYA GOLF CLUB BAHÍA PRÍNCIPE" IN MEXICO

The top five in each category and the Scratch winner qualify for the grand final, which will decide the five winners of one-week all-inclusive trips to Riviera Maya Club Bahía Príncipe in Mexico. The top two in each category and the scratch winner in the Grand Final, to be held in September at Alferini, will travel to the Riviera Maya.
