La Cala Resort to Host Innovative Challenge Tour Event

And now there are three… Costa del Sol golf fans will be able to enjoy a blue-ribbon treble of Tour events this season.

The Ladies European Tour returns to the Costa del Sol after last year’s successful Spanish Open at Aloha with the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España Femenino scheduled for 21 to 24 September at a venue still to be announced.

Then the action moves to Sotogrande from 19 to 22 October for the Andalucía Valderrama Masters – to date, the only men’s European Tour event scheduled for the whole of Spain this year.

Now it has been announced that La Cala Resort (in Mijas municipality) will host a men’s European Challenge Tour event from 18 to 21 May on one of the club’s three courses, Asia. The Andalucía Costa del Sol Match Play 9 features a novel format for the Tour: 36 holes of strokeplay followed by a series of nine-hole matches involving the leading players.
